King Rooster

There once was a king,
With a crown of red.
He sat on his thrown,
It sat on his head.

He was not the same,
This king was not stock.
Not run-of-the-mill,
As he was named Cock.

Even though he was strange,
This king loved to laugh.
His court fools would come,
By tapping his staff.

A court fool would rise,
A joke would be told.
Then at the punch line,
“Ha! this king is old!”

The king laughed so hard,
His face turned to blue.
He stood up and crowed,
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
